CICS is proud to announce that our current doctoral student Luis Eduardo Orozco has published his peer-reviewed article “Immigrants and technology: How 5G Will Transform and Enhance Mobile Education” in the ERIC Database. ERIC is an online library of education research and information, sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education.
Mr. Orozco is earning his Doctorate in Education through the doctoral program offered by Teacher’s College in partnership with CICS. His major cognate is Information and Communication Sciences through CICS, and the article reflects research conducted in this area of focus. It contributes to the understanding of the educational uses of mobile technologies by immigrants and the technical requirements to be provided by 5G technologies.
Some 5G applications are discussed emphasizing their contribution to the learning of immigrants and adults. The peer-reviewed article was written with the encouragement of Dr. Becky Hammons who is Mr. Orozco’s major cognate advisor.
As Mr. Orozco states “My background combines more than 10 years of academic, entrepreneurial, and management experience in the technology sector. Consequently, based on my background, my doctorate program has been carefully crafted and balanced to combine educational core classes with the ICS cognate. This has allowed me to focus on some emerging trends such as 5G technologies and to combine them with my educational core and my research interests”.
Dr. Anna Stumpf, coordinator of the online CICS program, wrote that “Mr. Orozco truly captures the importance and essence of education and highlights the urgency and opportunities of 5G technologies for all of us to have inclusion”.
